ViaWest announced this orning that it is opening up a new data center in Texas, which will be its eighth data center in that state. ViaWest said the new data center will be based in Plano, Texas, and will have 148,000 square feet of raised floor spcae. ViaWest did not say how much power is being provisioned to the new data center. Plano is a suburb of Dallas. ViaWest says it now has a total of 276,000 square feet of raised floor capacity in Texas, which it says has a supply of stable energy, low risk of natural disasters, ready access to fiber networks and competitive regulatory environment with a low state tax burden.
