Foundry Group has made its very first, international investment--in music technology developer
ROLI, via a $27M funding round for the East London startup. ROLI, which makes "connected musical instruments", said the Series B funding was led by Foundry Group, and also included BGF Ventures, Founders Fund, Balderton Capital, FirstMark Capital, Index Ventures, Horizons Ventures, and Universal Music Group. The Foundry Investment was led by Ryan McIntyre. ROLI's flagship instrument is the Seaboard RISE, a touch-sensitive, MIDI piano keyboard with soft keys and programmable sound control and Bluetooth connectivity.
