TechStars Hopes To Double Women Applying For Accelerator
Boulder-based startup accelerator operator TechStars said Tuesday that it hopes to double the number of women in its accelerator program applicant pool, as well as across its mentor network, over the next four years. The announcement--part of a broader industry effort as part of a White House Demo Day yesterday--is part of the accelerator's effort to improve opportunities for women and underrepresented minorities, according to TechStars. The move is the latest in the high tech industry to address a lack of diversity in today's technology industry. Techstars said it plans to publish its diversity data annually, and is working with the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) on the diversity efforts.
