Spring is in the air, and apparently, so is the idea of smartphone-connected, sprinkler controllers. Boulder-based investment firm
Foundry Group said Thursday that it has made an investment via its
FG Angels angel investment effort in Colorado-based
Rachio, a developer of smartphone-connected, smart irrigation controllers. Rachio is developing automated, sprinkling controllers which can be controlled using either an iPhone or Android application, or via a web dashboard. Rachio is led by Matt Reisman, who was a student at the University of Colorado. Rachio is the second, smartphone-connected sprinkler and irrigation controller to emerge out of the area in the last week; just two days ago, another, smartphone-controlled irrigation controller company--ZBS Technology--
announced its own smart irrigation controller, called the RainCommander, which similarly lets users control their sprinklers using their smartphone.
