Fusion-io IPO Boosts VC Into Forbes Midas List
The successful IPO of Salt Lake City-based Fusion-io has helped to place a venture capitalist into the annual Forbes Midas List of top venture capitalists, although the list bypassed any local investors in companies in the region. According to the list, Chris Shaepe of Lightspeed Venture Partners was #66 on the list of the top 100 venture investors this year, for his role in funding Salt Lake City's Fusion-io. Lightspeed was a later investor in Fusion-io, which was initially funded by New Enterprise Associates. It's unclear why Forbes selected Shaepe for the list, by bypassed Forest Baskett, who led the investment in Fusion-io. NEA had about 38.81 percent of Fusion-io at IPO, with Lightspeed holding around 13.2 percent of the company. That said, Scott Sandell, who shared a role in investing in Fusion-io at New enterprise Associates, was ranked highly at number 10 on the Midas List.
