Microchip Buys Supertex For $246M

Microchip Technology
said this morning that it has acquired Silicon Valley-based
Supertex, Inc.
, a developer of high voltage analog and mixed signal chips. Microchip said the deal was worth $246M after accounting for cash and investments on Supertex's balance sheet, with the company paying $33M in cash for Supertex, or $394M in total. Microchip said it will use the buy to expand its position in the medical, industrial, and lighting markets.
