Englewood, Colorado-based
DISH Network, the satellite television operator, said today that its subsidiary,
Blockbuster, will end both its retail and DVD-by-mail operations in early January, 2014. DISH said the move will close the approximately 200 remaining U.S. retail stores and distribution centers which had been operated by Blockbuster. DISH had
acquired Blockbuster out of bankruptcy back in 2011, for $320M.
