Fusion-io Powers Chinese Shopping Site
Salt Lake City-based flash storage provider Fusion-io reported a win with a big online Chinese shopping site today, saying that its hardware is being used by JD.com. Fusion-io said that JD.com is the largest independent, B2C online shopping website in China. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Fusion-io's hardware is being use to accelerate a Microsoft SQL Server database. Fusion-io makes solid state-based storage, which is used to replace standard disk drives in many performance-intensive applications. Flash-based solid state storage typically provides performance that is an order faster than spinning platters, which provides a corresponding increase in the performance of many software applications.
