MapQuest Releases Official iPhone API
Denver-based online mapping site
MapQuest
has officially released its iOS Maps API, the company said Thursday, with its first production release of tools to allow developers to build iPhone and iPad apps that incorporate the site's mapping products. MapQuest provides programming interfaces which support routing, geocoding, and unlimited, free mapping for the Apple mobile platforms. MapQuest first launched its APIs for the iOS platform in February in beta form; the firm has been looking to regain ground with developers, after competitor Google decided to start charging for its own mapping APIs.
