Boulder-based Orbotix, the firm behind the Sphero robotic ball, said Monday afternoon that it has shipped its first round of products. The company also released five new apps, which allows users to controls the Sphero from the iPhone and Android phones, and said it will release its SDK for iOS and Android tomorrow. The first shipment for Sphero comes just days before Christmas. However, Orbotix has already announced earlier this month that it would be unable to ship all of the outstanding orders for the device, due to the complexity of manufacturing the devices and the time to bring up a production line; the firm has promised to ship the remainder of its pre-orders as soon as it can.
