Bing's Colorado Team Bolsters Mapping Imagery
Bing.com, the web search engine run by Microsoft Corp., said today that a team based on of Boulder, Colorado, has made a major update to Bing's high resolution, aerial imagery. In a blog post, Bing said that its Bing Imagery Technologies team (BITs), located in Boulder, Colorado, spent more than a year collecting the new high resolution, 30cm (1-ft) resolution photos covering the continental United States and Western Europe, as part of the Bing Maps Global Ortho imagery program. Microsoft said the work o the Boulder team will provide consistent brilliance, resolution and accuracy, as opposed to the sometimes patchy coverage of various other mapping services. Microsoft said it plans to completed collecting coverage of the US and Western Europe by June 2012.
