E-commerce giant Amazon.com announced today that it is in a major expansion in the Phoenix area, and will be adding 400,000 square-feet to one of its fulfillment centers in the city. Amazon said the expansion should be complete by September, and will bring its total space in the Phoenix metro area to over three million square feet. Amazon also has two other centers in the Phoenix area, including two in Phoenix itself and one in Goodyear. Amazon emphasized the expansion in its Arizona centers comes due to the direct support of Governor Brewer and other state officials, which the firm says have "demonstrated their commitment to Amazon jobs and investment." Amazon has been battling a number of other states over their aggressive tax stance against the company, including withdrawing major fulfillment centers from Texas and South Carolina. Those moves seem to have benefited Arizona.
