Gevo has just been sued by a joint venture of DuPont and BP,
Butamax Advanced Biofuels, according to a complaint filed in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. The complaint, Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC v. Gevo, Inc., claims that Gevo has infringed upon a patent owned by Butamax, U.S. Patent No. 7,851,188 B2. Butamax alleges that Gevo is infringing on the patent by using recominant microbial host cells to convert sugar to isobutanol. Butamax is looking for a permanent enjoinent from making, selling, or importing cells covered by the patent, as well as damages.
