Foundry Backs Orbotix, Robotic Ball Firm
Boulder-based Foundry Group announced today that it has invested in Orbotix, the Boulder firm which is developing a gaming system which combines smart phones, physical objects, and an online software marketplace. Terms of the deal--which had already been announced in September by Orbotix--were not disclosed. As part of the announcement Foundry revealed that Orbotix has created a robotic ball which is controlled by a smart phone. Orbotix (formerly Gearbox) was one of the teams in this year's TechStars class.
