The analysis--based on tracking of venture capital, angel, and private equity deals by Techrockies.com--found that the biggest deal in the quarter was for Broomfield,Colorado-based
AirCell, which significantly boosted the total invested in the area through a $176M private placement. The most active venture capital firm investing in the area for Q1 was
Highway 12 Ventures, which invested in two deals during the quarter. Other firms with notable investments during Q1 were
Flywheel Ventures,
Village Ventures,
Access Ventures,
Greylock Partners, and
In-Q-Tel--the CIA's venture capital firm. Colorado dominated venture activity for the quarter, with $351.3M in funding, followed by Utah with $54.9M in investments, and Arizona with $41.75M.
