New Mexico Teen Wins Intel Science Talent Search
Semiconductor giant Intel Corp. announced this week that it has named Erika DeBenedictis, an 18-year old from Albuquerque, New Mexico, as the winner of its Intel Science Talent Search. DeBenedictis gets $100,000 for her project, which focused on developing a software navigation system to help improve spacecraft travel through the solar system. Intel gave $630,000 in awards to 40 finalists in the contest. Over 1,736 high school seniors participated in the contest this year.
