American Airlines and Lexus said Thursday that they will provide free, Wi-Fi connectivity to travelers from Nov. 1 and Nov.7 on Wi-Fi equipped aircraft on American Airlines. the two companies said the free Wi-Fi, compliments of Lexus, will allow users to access e-mail, shopping, and other Internet sites using their laptop, smartphones, or PDAs. The Wi-Fi access comes through the Gogo Inflight Internet service, which is powered by Broomfield, Colorado-based Aircell, a developer of airborne communications systems. Gogo Inflight Internet is Aircell's consumer facing brand, targeted at commercial airliners.
