Micron Gets Into Microdisplays
Boise, Idaho-based Micron Technology is trying its hand at the microdisplay market, saying this morning that it has introduced a new microdisplay panel targeted at such products as head-mounted displays and embedded cell phone projectors. The firm said the new products come from technology it recently acquired from Displaytech, Inc. The new panels are based on ferroelectric liquid crystal on silicon (FLCOS) technology, and provide wide-screen quarter VGA (WQVGA) resolution.
