Denver-based digital-mapping firm Intermap Technologies reported Thursday that its NEXTMap Europe program reached a milestone in December by making commercially available elevation data for all of France. According to Intermap, this is the first time that uniform 3-D digital elevation models and high-resolution, ortho-rectified radar images have been available for the entire country, the European Union's largest. Intermap said it now possesses complete digital mapping coverage of France, Germany, Great Britain and Luxembourg. The firm noted that it plans to continue adding entire country datasets to its NEXTMap Europe library until the entire continent has been mapped—portions of Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and The Netherlands are already in the system, Intermap added.
