Multiple sources reported Tuesday that blog-sharing software developer madKast is about to be acquired by a competitor. Details are scarce, but news of the would-be deal circulated Tuesday at TechStars's Demo Day conference in Mountain View, Calif. Silicon Valley news sites TechCrunch and VentureBeat said ShareThis Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, has agreed to buy Boulder, Colo.-based madKast for an undisclosed sum and that the deal would close in a matter of days. In response to the rumors, madKast noted on its corporate blog—its first update in more than half a year—that it could not comment on the matter at this time but that a related announcement is pending. Founded in 2007, madKast was one of 10 startups selected that year for the TechStars incubation program.
