Broadband Internet access provider WildBlue Communications Inc. announced Wednesday that it has obtained $50 million in equity financing. The Greenwood Village, Colo.-based company credited Liberty Media, Intelsat, the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative and venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers with leading the effort. WildBlue said it will use the money to support its recently launched customer equipment leasing program. The company added that it will also use the proceeds to expand its customer care and field service operations workforce. WildBlue provides satellite-based broadband Internet access to consumers and small offices in rural areas throughout the United States.
