Inverness Medical Innovations Inc., a manufacturer of diagnostic products for home and clinical use, announced Tuesday that it is shutting down three production facilities, including a manufacturing plant in Louisville, Colo. Inverness said the Colorado facility produces its BioStar OIA product line, which is being terminated. Inverness said that, though the Louisville closure will occur toward the end of the second quarter, OIA products will be available through Q1 2009. Inverness explained that closing the Louisville plant will save the company some $3 million per year. Inverness Medical Innovations is headquartered in Waltham, Mass.
