PPG Industries, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products and fiberglass, announced Monday that it has acquired the assets and intellectual property of NanoProducts Corp., a producer and developer of nanoproduct materials and technology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. James A. Trainham, PPG's vice president of science and technology, said the acquisition strengthens his company’s international position in the nano-engineering space. Trainham added that PPG plans to license some of its newly acquired nanotechnology. NanoProducts Corp. is headquartered in Longmont, Colo.
