CVI Melles Griot, a supplier of optical systems and components, announced Monday that it has acquired Coherent Imaging Optics Ltd., a provider of critical infrared optical components for advanced thermal imaging. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction, CVI Melles Griot explained, grants a local manufacturing center for defense contracts and provides new capabilities in the production of infrared imaging optics and assemblies. CVI said Robin Henderson, Coherent Imaging’s managing director, will oversee the division's integration with CVI and will report directly to company CEO Stuart Schoenmann. Coherent Imaging is formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of Coherent Inc. CVI Melles Griot is headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M.
