Quark Makes Software Free To Students
Denver, Colorado-based software developer Quark Inc. announced Tuesday that it will allow students to use educational licenses of certain Quark software for commercial purposes. Previously, students and others who purchased educational licenses to the popular desktop publishing suite were not permitted to use the software for commercial gain. Quark said the amended policy applies to Quark Interactive Designer, Quark Print Collection, and QuarkXPress, its popular desktop-publishing tool. The offer applies to students as long as they remain in school, and the firm also said that students may continue to use their education licenses of QuarkXPress for commercial purposes after graduation only if they do not upgrade. Quark is a privately held company based in Denver.
