Mainstream Data Inc., a global digital media content provider, revealed Friday that it has acquired fellow content provider Newscom LLC from its previous joint owners, Tribune Media Services and The McClatchy Company. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Mainstream said Newscom, which was founded in 1985, will operate as an independent subsidiary and will remain headquartered in the Washington D.C. area. Mainstream added that Newscom will open a sales office in New York City later this summer. Newscom provides publishing companies with rights-managed and royalty-free photos, graphics, illustrations, news stories and features. Established in 1985, Mainstream Data is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
