Plasmon Unveils Next Generation of Optical Storage
Broomfield, Colorado-based archiving systems manufacturer Plasmon has launched the second generation of its ultra-density optical storage drives, the company reported Wednesday. Plasmon said the UDO2 units and media will be available later this month, and its full line of UDO Archive Appliances and G-Series UDO libraries will reach the market by the end of May. Plasmon added that the 60-gigabyte UDO2 drives offer twice the capacity and 50 percent more performance than their UDO1 predecessors. Founded in 1984, Plasmon's international headquarters are in Cambridge, England, and the company's U.S. headquarters are in Broomfield, Colo.
