Chandler, Arizona-based Microchip Technology has teamed up with ZigBee provider Ember to provide a microcontroller kit integrated with Ember's ZigBee co-processor. Ember and Microchip said Wednesday that the new kit is designed to offer Microchip's customers an easy solution for building ZigBee protocol wireless applications. The new kit is targeted at users of Microchip's PIC16 and PIC18 8-bit flash microcontrollers. The kit also include Ember's EM260 ZigBee co-processor. ZigBee (802.15.4) is an emerging low-power wireless standard designed for connecting low-cost monitoring and control products.
