Scottsdale, Arizona-based domain name registration provider GoDaddy said today that it will allow its customers to pre-register for the new .MOBI domain names. ICANN added the new .MOBI top-level domain in May, targeting the new domain towards mobile operators and others. GoDaddy.com is one of many domain name providers who have started signing up customers ahead of the public availability of actual domain names; registration does not guarantee the names. The .MOBI domain is currently in the Trademark Sunrise period, which allows trademark holders to claim their domains first. The domain is expected to be open to the public in September.
