WikiPatents Take On Patent Reviews
Salt Lake City, Utah-based WikiPatents launched a new web site Monday that allows community reviews of US patents. The web site, which utilizes "wiki" technology to allow anyone to enter information onto the web site, is targeting community review of US patents and pending patent applications. According to WikiPatents, the site addresses many of the concerns of the USPTO and intellectual property experts, clarifying for the public the extent to which a patent has genuinely advanced technology. WikiPatents allows anyone to vote on a patent; offer a patent for license; and add notes and information to patents. Wiki software allows anyone to add and contribute to online web sites, and is best known for its use in the popular Wikipedia online encyclopedia.
