Salt Lake City, Utah-based LANDesk has upgraded its management software, saying today that it has delivered version 8.7 of the company's tools. LANdesk said that the latest release adds a built-in antivirus engine, updated tools for operating system deployment, and better platform support for its handheld and embedded device management features. LANDesk said that the upgrades will help its customers handle support for different vendors, manage large distribute enterprise computing environments, and prepare for the upgrade to Windows Vista. LANDesk is in the process of being acquired by Avocent.
