Broomfield, Colorado-based storage area networking firm McData said this week that its Intrepid FICON Converter has completed interoperability testing with IBM's FICON enabled eServer z890 mainframe. McData received the certification under IBM's TotalStorage Proven certification program. McData said that its product has been certified to work with IBM's mainframe and ESCON attached tape drives. McData's Intrepid FICON converter allows FICON peripherals for mainframes to be connected to a switch, instead of directly to a mainframe.
