Tempe Arizona-based Avnet Partner Solutions has rolled out a new blade server offering, combining technology from HP, Brocade, and VMware. The enterprise computing product distributor said that it was delivering a new solution it calls Datacenter in a Box which combines the popular server virtualization operating system VMware ESX Server with blade servers from HP, and storage area network switches from Brocade. Avnet said that customers will be able to purchase the product as a single part number. The solution also includes assessment, installation, and three years of maintenance. The new solution capitalizes on the popularity of blade server and virtual server environments from VMware, used by IT administrators to consolidate the number of server platforms they have to install. The combination of blade servers and better physical compactness with the reduced number of processors and systems from server virtualization techniques. Avnet Partner Solutions is a subsidiary of Avnet.
