Hasbro, Netflix Team On Kids Programming
Beverly Hills-based Hasbro Studios, the content division of toy maker Hasbro, and streaming media provider Netflix said Thursday that the two are in an expanded, multi-year programming agreement. According to the two, they will add such new Hasbro Studio shows as My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Transformers Prime, Littlest Pet Shop and Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters, available to Netflix members in the U.S. Financial details of the content deal were not disclosed.
The content deal is one of the latest in a long line of content deals that online streaming video providers such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, and Hulu have been developing with Hollywood to provide content differentiation on their services, and to attract new viewers to their services. That move also has made those same streaming media providers one of the big new sources of original production efforts in Los Angeles.
